COMMONWEALTH BOXING COUNCIL BULLETIN                                                    28th November 2016

COMMONWEALTH MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE DECLARED VACANT.

Last Saturday 26th November in Cardiff, Wales, Commonwealth Middleweight Champion TOMMY LANGFORD successfully challenged for the vacant British Title in a match for which no application for a Commonwealth defence had been received from either Langford or his representatives, nor the promoter, despite the opponent SAM SHEEDY a fellow Brit, being an eligible contender, and despite the prior advice of the Hon Secretary.

Accordingly the Commonwealth Title is declared vacant forthwith and the first match made between 2 eligible contenders and complying with CBC Championship requirements, will be recognized as being for the vacant Title.

AUSSIE RULES

For the first time, if ever, in decades Australia now has two Commonwealth Champions at the same time both Champions winning on their own soil. On Friday 25th November in Queensland and Victoria respectively, KRIS GEORGE became the new Welterweight Champion while at Supermiddleweight, ZAC DUNN became the new Champion (see RESULTS).

With ROCKY JERCIK expected to challenge for the vacant Superwelterweight Championship early in the New Year, Australia could well find itself with 3 current Champions.

Not sure about the distant past but certainly in the time of office of the current Hon Secretary (36 years), this is unprecedented.

COMMONWEALTH BOXING COUNCIL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The CBC AGM will take place at  the Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House in London’s Pall Mall on WEDNESDAY 7TH and THURSDAY 8TH DECEMBER when Directors and representatives from affiliated member federations will be in attendance including for the first time, new Director BRIGADIER RAJA on behalf of the CBC’s newest member, the INDIAN BOXING COUNCIL.
