Purse bids were opened by the CBC Chairman Philip Brook Smith QC at his Chambers in the Temple on 14th March and the winning bid was submitted by Eddie Hearn with the contest to take place at the Manchester Arena on 7th May 2016.
LORD BROOKS OF TREMORFA DL
The funeral service for the late Lord Brooks, former Chairman and President of the British Boxing Board of Control will be held on 1st April at Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff.
The Hon Secretary, who served under Lord Brooks as General Secretary of the BBB of C during his time as Chairman, is honoured to be one of three speakers invited by the Brooks family to pay tribute at the service.
COMMONWEALTH DAY 14TH MARCH 2016
The CBC Chairman, Philip Brook Smith QC and the Hon Secretary attended a reception at Marlborough House, Pall Mall, London to mark Commonwealth Day in the presence of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, as guests of HE Kamalesh Sharma, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, and Mrs
Babli Sharma.
CBC SPRING/INTERIM MEETING
The Spring/Interim Meeting of the CBC will take place at Marlborough House, Pall Mall, London on 28th and 29th April.
A Quorum of Directors including the President and Chairman will review CBC and Commonwealth Championship matters and take any necessary decisions, prior to the AGM in the Autumn when all Directors are requested to attend.
INDIAN BOXING COUNCIL
An application for affiliation to the CBC has been received from Brigadier P K MURALIDHARAN, President of the Indian Boxing Council and will be placed before the attending Directors at the Spring/Interim Meeting.
With an upsurge in recent years of interest and activity in boxing on the Asian sub-continent, and with the progress of Indian prospect VIJENDER SINGH well underway, this application is to be welcomed and it is hoped that Brigadier Muralidharan will be present at the Autumn AGM to be formally registered as CBC Director with Companies House.
