COMMONWEALTH BELT 2

WHO ARE WE AND WHO ARE OUR CHAMPIONS ?

Empire Championships have been around since the end of the 19th Century and past Champions include some of the greatest names in the sport from virtually all countries of the old Empire but it was not until 1954 that the Empire and Commonwealth Championships Committee was set up to regulate the Championships, the name later changed to the Commonwealth Championships Committee and finally, after incorporation as a ‘not for profit’, limited liability Company registered under the laws of England and Wales, as the Commonwealth Boxing Council Ltd. We are recognized as a Commonwealth Civil Society by the Commonwealth Secretariat who allow us to use their headquarters at Marlborough House in London’s Pall Mall for their meetings.

Our members are the various licensing and/or National Championship authorities in those countries of the Commonwealth where professional boxing takes place to any degree.

Each member nominates a Director who sits on the CBC board although no fee or salary is paid, the position is an honorary one.

Our current Champions (July 2014) hail from England, Scotland, Wales, Nigeria, Jamaica, Ghana and Australia and former Champions since 2000 who either were or went on to win World Championships include Lennox Lewis, Carl Froch,  Joseph Agbeko, Sam Soliman, Amir Khan, Ricky Burns and Nathan Cleverley

So, what is on offer;
